These naturally occurring nodules can appear ordinary on the outside, but when cracked or cut open, may reveal colourful opal or ironstone hidden inside. On average, 1 in every 1,000 Yowah nuts will reveal precious opal crystal or matrix, usually found in the outer layers (‘the skin’).
